One of my favorite video game franchises is Nintendo’s Super Mario! Here’s some drawings of the brothers, Mario and Luigi.
For Luigi, I took a lot of inspiration from Danny Wells who portrayed the character in the TV show, The Super Mario Bros. Super Show!. As for Mario, I took inspiration from both Lou Albano and Bob Hoskins. Albano was Mario in The Super Mario Bros. Super Show! alongside Wells’ Luigi, while Hoskins had portrayed the character in the 1993 live-action Super Mario Bros.. I’ve never seen the 1993 film but I’m a fan of Hoskins’ work especially in Who Framed Roger Rabbit and Mermaids. I’m a bit hesitant to watch the 1993 film after hearing all the negative reviews and learning about the production hell it went through, but maybe I’ll watch it someday.
