Wednesday Season 2 Predictions

SPOILER WARNING: I’ll be talking about Netflix’s Wednesday S1 and The Legend of Korra. You can ignore this post or proceed if you want.

I have so many thoughts about the upcoming season 2 for Wednesday so I wanted to write them out. I did something similar when I was waiting for season 2 and 3 for The Owl House and I thought it would be fun to do the same for this show. Anyway, here’s what I’d love to see and what I think we’ll end up seeing regardless of my opinions. I’m curious about which points will be included and which won’t.

Updated April 23, 2025: we recently got the first trailer for season 2! 🎉

Overview

  1. More Addams Family Lore

  2. Wednesday being a menace

  3. Further character development for Wednesday & Enid (separate & together)

  4. More character development for existing characters

  5. Enid tagging along with Wednesday to solve mysteries

  6. Enid’s relationship with her werewolf side and her family

  7. Less focus on romance for Wednesday

More Addams Family lore.

I’d love to see more Addams family characters like Grandmama, Cousin Itt, does Pubert exist?, and maybe some new ones. There are so many iterations of the family—I’m curious about this version of them. I was pretty bummed about the amount of time we got with them in the Netflix show so hopefully we’ll get more in season 2! I’m aware we’ll be getting some focus on Wednesday and Morticia’s relationship and I’m excited for that. I also want to see this version’s Addams mansion. And will we see Goody again?

Also, Jenna has said she and the team would be taking more inspiration from Charles Addams’ works and I’m pretty excited about this!

“In between season 1 and season 2, I actually went to this antiquarian bookshop and I picked up some of the first published books of Charles Addams,” Ortega says. “I kept that on my bedside table as we were shooting just for reference. You know, looking at [his] dark tools.” Ortega, who is also an executive producer on the second season of Wednesday and has a larger hand in shaping the tone, says she looked at both Addams’ original cartoons as well as the wider real world the artist drew upon.

There’s also this quote:

“It was interesting,” Ortega says of the second season, “when you [could suggest], ‘Maybe we have these supernatural extras that look like this image!’ Things like that were really helpful. And also it would just help me get in that mind space of when we’re shooting a scene. Instead of thinking like, ‘Okay, I can make a snarky comment to my brother,’ I could [instead] push him off this cliff and almost kill him. There was a moment or two there of that.”

Wednesday being a menace.

I’d love to see her go feral and create fear in her enemies lol. There are a couple fanfics that have her do this and I hope we get that in season 2. I like how her character shows love for the people she cares about by how she protects them (ex: Wednesday going after the bullies who hurt Pugsley). I hope we see more of that.

Further character development for Wednesday & Enid (separate & together).

I hope we do get more insight on Wednesday’s psychic abilities. Will she be able to get a better understanding of her powers? Are there other Ravens that are currently alive who can help her? What’s the lore behind being a Raven or Dove? Will her visions get more dangerous and affect her health? 1 Will her defeating Crackstone have an effect on Outcast society?? I’d love to learn more about her abilities, how she’ll deal with that, and how it will affect her life in the present and future.

We already know that season 2 will feature more Enid since she’s had a lot of positive reactions from fans and the general audience so it’s expected that she’ll be one of the characters that will get a bigger role. I look forward to seeing more about her and her relationship with Wednesday. I do go more into depth about her later in this post.

The raven and wolf symbolism immediately caught my attention when Goody told Wednesday she was a Raven in their family and we know her best friend is a werewolf. Ravens and wolves have a mutualistic relationship in nature so I thought it was neat to have this be part of Wednesday and Enid’s characters and their dynamic. I wonder if this was intentional or a coincidence. Anyway, I’d love to see the crew explore this further.

More character development for existing characters.

Before it was revealed that Yoko, Divina, and Kent weren’t returning, I was also hoping we’d get more time with them since we barely got anything with them… and because they’re such staple characters in fanfiction lol

I also want more Bianca since she’s an interesting character, she’s one of my favorite characters in the show, and she had that one storyline with her mom. Also, I’d love to see more Wednesday bonding with Eugene moments. I love their friendship!

Enid tagging along with Wednesday to solve mysteries.

One of the things I love in season 1 is the mystery aspect so I hope we continue getting that in season 2. Scooby Doo is one of my favorite franchises mostly because of the whole solving mysteries aspect so I like the idea of Wednesday and Enid solving mysteries together.

Enid’s relationship with her werewolf side and her family.

This is what I really want to see for Enid. There are so many fanfics that cover this and I feel like it would be a wasted opportunity if we don’t get some focus on this especially since it’s something that’s already been established for the character and something the character really focuses on. So we can assume viewers would expect this for her.

This could also be a perfect topic for Enid ig (ex: her standing up to her mom, Esther) and it can create many opportunities for her to bond with Wednesday (and Ajax if they’ll still be together). I can totally imagine Enid stressing about the werewolf cages and Wednesday helping her with that or Enid trying to get used to wolfing out and Wednesday helping her with that too. Also, would wolfing out for the first time during a Blood Moon have any significance and would this affect her relationship with her family and the entire werewolf community??

I keep mentioning Wednesday and highlighting Enid’s relationship with her mostly because their dynamic is one of the things from the show that people and some of the cast, notably Jenna Ortega who plays Wednesday, loves. It’s a pretty popular relationship! So I’d assume the crew would want to include more and focus more on Wednesday and Enid’s relationship.

Update 5/18/25: I do have two newer posts where I talk more about Enid. If that sounds like something you want to read, here’s one (Tyler and Enid’s similarities and differences) and two (Enid’s character arc).

Less focus on romance for Wednesday.

We already know Wednesday isn’t going to be involved in any romance (thank god).

Now my concern will be with how they’ll handle Enid’s romance because romance seems to be something the team wants to include but they seem to struggle with it. The “love triangle” in season 1 (can it really be considered one if Wednesday had no romantic interest in either boy?) is one of the most frustrating parts and it was painful to watch so I hope if we do get more romance from any characters, it won’t be a similar experience.

About Enid and Ajax: if they’re still together then Ajax better get more character development because right now he’s boring. Personally I think Wednesday would be a better option but we have confirmation that she isn’t getting a romance storyline. Jenna said so herself:

“We’re ditching any romantic love interest for Wednesday, which is really great,” she added, referring to the Season 1 storyline that saw Wednesday in a love triangle between Tyler Galpin (Hunter Doohan) and Xavier Thorpe (Percy Hynes White). In the past, Ortega has commented that the plot “made no sense” for her character.

And you can read the article here if you’re interested.

Also, ideas can change. I never thought they’d actually drop Wednesday’s romance arc and yet here we are. Majority of viewers didn’t like it (Jenna hated it and was against it from the beginning 😂), the team noticed this, and thankfully they acted accordingly. If a 3rd season is coming, would the team change their tune again and consider pairing off Wednesday with Enid if the reception for both characters is still good? Most of the official merchandise and promos focus on them so I won’t be surprised if they decide to do this. At the same time, I wouldn’t be surprised if Wednesday remains single since this is also something many fans want for the character. Personally I’m ok with either.

I can see the crew having Wenclair “pull a Korrasami” since there are many similarities. If anyone is interested in Korrasami (Korra x Asami from The Legend of Korra) and you don’t mind spoilers, here’s a blog post by Bryan Konietzko who’s one of the directors of the show. There’s also this excellent video about the couple. I know I keep bringing up romance and the possibility of canon Wenclair, but it’s mostly because the crew and many interviews keep talking about it. There were many pairings I thought would never be official (ex: korrasami) but I was pleasantly surprised when they became canon. So I’m totally open to the possibility of Wenclair being canon.

Back to Ajax—he’s one of the better guys but he’s just bland imo. At this point, if Ajax is still going to be an underdeveloped character and if Wednesday and Enid aren’t the romantic couple the show is trying to set up AND if we absolutely must have a couple to focus on—let’s have more Gomez and Morticia. I would love more Gomez and Morticia.
