Tomodachi Life Living The Dream trailer (spoilers)

A new trailer came out and I’m excited for Living the Dream!
LGBTQ+ Rep
I’m so happy the team kept their promise all those years ago about having LGBTQ+ representation in the next installment of Tomodachi Life! A lot of fans were worried about them not following through with it but thank goodness they actually kept their promise!
Some Background
Basically, Tomodachi Life is a life simulation game where players create their own characters and take care of them. An important feature is having characters date and marry each other but it was unfortunately only exclusive to straight couples.
Back when Tomodachi Life for the 3DS was released, many fans were disappointed about the absence of an option to have gay couples in the game. It was a big enough criticism that Nintendo apologized and responded with:
We apologize for disappointing many people by failing to include same-sex relationships in Tomodachi Life. Unfortunately, it is not possible for us to change this game’s design, and such a significant development change can’t be accomplished with a post-ship patch. At Nintendo, dedication has always meant going beyond the games to promote a sense of community, and to share a spirit of fun and joy. We are committed to advancing our longtime company values of fun and entertainment for everyone. We pledge that if we create a next installment in the Tomodachi series, we will strive to design a game-play experience from the ground up that is more inclusive, and better represents all players.
And with the recent trailer, they have kept their promise with Living The Dream.
I’ve been playing Tomodachi Life on my 3DS and using the Gay Mod that was released by a fan back in June 2025. It actually took me a while to play the game because I’ve always wanted to have gay relationships on my island and not having that ability killed any interest in playing. When I found out a Gay Mod was available, I finally decided to start playing it in 2025 and OMG it’s such a fun game! And now Living The Dream will finally have LGBTQ+ representation!
Miis can be male, female, or nonbinary.
Miis can be straight, gay, lesbian, bi, pan, ace, etc.
I honestly thought Nintendo would just include gay relationships but having the ability to choose a gender and dating preferences is wonderful! Absolutely love that they included these options.
Customizable Island
I love that they added this feature in! It’ll totally make the island feel and look more personal. I’m excited to see how other ppl will decorate their island!
Quirks
Another feature to make the miis feel more unique. Love that you can even customize how miis move and how they’d react to certain things. Curious about just how deep the customization for the little quirks will be.
Roommates
This one is interesting. This new feature also has me wondering about married couples and if they’ll be sharing a new house while having their own house similar to the previous game or would they just move into a new house?
